Services

Services include background research, records retrieval, surveillance, witness location and interviews, asset research, corporate due diligence, and insurance fraud and injury defense investigation. Background investigations range from basic personal identifiers and address history to broader searches covering civil and criminal history, marriage history, social media, professional licenses, and more. What is included depends on the scope requested and the permissible purpose.

Working With a Licensed Investigator

It is fair to ask why hire an investigator rather than search for the information yourself. A licensed investigator has access to specialized databases that are not open to the public. The investigator also brings the experience to know where to look and how to read what turns up, and the standing to do the work within the law. Information gathered and documented by a licensed professional also tends to carry more weight, and we can testify to how it was obtained if a matter reaches court. In most cases that saves time and money and produces something more reliable than a do-it-yourself search.

What to Expect

Privacy laws including the Driver's Privacy Protection Act and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act govern what information can be obtained, how it can be used, and to whom it can be released. Those rules shape the work regardless of who is requesting it or why. Infidelity investigations are available but are handled through an attorney. If you do not have an attorney and are considering an infidelity investigation, we recommend consulting one before reaching out.

Locating individuals for professional purposes such as witness interviews or other permissible uses is a standard part of the work. For personal reconnection searches involving long lost friends or relatives, the approach is different. Not everyone wants to be found, and some people have good reasons for losing contact. In those situations, we conduct the search but reach out to the located party directly before releasing any identifying information. That gives them the opportunity to decide whether they want to reconnect. Whether and how to proceed from there is a conversation between you and us.

Individuals engage us directly for a range of matters. Those include confirming someone's identity before a significant personal or financial decision, and due diligence on a privately hired caregiver or a prospective business partner. Others involve locating a person, or gathering basic facts before deciding whether to retain an attorney. What can be obtained and released to an individual is narrower than in matters directed by counsel, and some work is better handled through a lawyer.
